The Lucy's Story

Detroit-native Sarah Williamson started Lucy’s Bakery after a blissful season in Skagway ended with a suggestion from a friend to keep the good vibes going. Drawn to Skagway for all the obvious reasons (plus the not-so-immediately-obvious bonus of an amazing community), she has called this place home since 2020. Skagway is made up of all things good, and it’s where she is truly happiest. During the off-season months, she and her husband like to travel and experience as much of the world as possible.

Her passion for baking and sharing that passion with others has long fermented, starting with a puff pastry heart cake in 5th grade. It ended with a kitchen covered in chocolate, a stack of dirty dishes, a semi-decent cake, and a kid in love with baking.

The name, Lucy’s Bakery, comes from Sarah’s childhood nickname given to her by her mom due to her penchant for getting into comical scrapes. The chocolate chip cookies served in the shop today are the same recipe Lucy and her mom made together 20 years ago. Lucy’s loves keeping it in the family so much, that both her husband and brother are integral members of the team (read: forced to do her bidding).

We’re all about making handmade, delicious food--sometimes through bold flavors, sometimes through comfortable classics done well. It’s a true labor of love that we are wildly delighted to share with everyone who walks through our shockingly tiny doors. Come see us to enjoy one of our baked goods, or just drop in to say hello and appreciate our mildly eccentric gallery wall.
